English Translation

The sages, whose sins are destroyed, who are free from duality, and who have disciplined themselves while being devoted to the welfare of all beings, attain Brahman-nirvana.

English Explanation

Krishna describes the qualities of sages who attain Brahman-nirvana:

  • Free from sins (kṣīṇa-kalmaṣāḥ): All impurities and past misdeeds have been purified.

  • Beyond duality (chinna-dvaidhā): No longer perceiving differences or divisions in the Self and the universe.

  • Self-disciplined (yatātmānaḥ): Fully controlling mind, body, and senses.

  • Devoted to welfare (sarva-bhūta-hite ratāḥ): Dedicated to the well-being of all beings.

This verse emphasizes that attaining Brahman-nirvana requires both inner purity and selfless action for the welfare of all.
