🔡 IAST Transliteration

ajñaś cāśraddadhānaś ca saṁśayātmā vinaśyati
nāyaṁ loko ’sti na paro na sukhaṁ saṁśayātmanaḥ

🇬🇧 English Translation

The ignorant, the faithless, and the doubting soul perish. For one who is full of doubts, there is neither this world, nor the next, nor happiness.

✨ Detailed English Explanation

Krishna warns that three qualities doom a seeker:

  1. Ajñaḥ — Ignorant and unwilling to learn.

  2. Aśraddadhānaḥ — Lacking faith in higher truths, scriptures, and guidance.

  3. Saṁśayātmā — Constantly doubtful, unable to commit to a path.

The phrase vinaśyati implies spiritual ruin — losing the opportunity for growth in both worlds.

For the doubting soul, there is nāyaṁ lokaḥ (no fulfillment in this life), na paraḥ (no higher realm after death), and na sukhaṁ (no peace or joy at all).

This is not blind condemnation — Krishna is pointing out that doubt corrodes action, and without action, no progress is possible. Faith and clarity are essential companions to knowledge.

Life Lessons

In English:

  • Doubt weakens the mind and blocks progress.

  • Without faith, the spiritual journey is incomplete.

  • The first step to remove ignorance is the willingness to learn.

  • A perpetually doubting person finds neither peace nor success.

🏁 Conclusion

This verse is a spiritual reality check — to walk the path of wisdom, one must combine knowledge with faith and decisiveness. Doubt may arise, but if it becomes your nature, it will destroy your peace in this life and blessings in the next
