🌞 Knowledge Destroys Ignorance: Gita Chapter 5 Shloka 16 Explained

Sanskrit Shloka (श्लोक)

IAST Transliteration

jñānena tu tad-ajñānaṃ yeṣāṃ nāśitam ātmanaḥ ।
teṣām ādityavaj jñānaṃ prakāśayati tat-param ॥ 5.16 ॥

English Translation

For those whose ignorance has been destroyed by knowledge, that knowledge shines like the sun, dispelling all darkness.

English Explanation

Krishna emphasizes the transformative power of knowledge. When ignorance is destroyed in the soul, true wisdom emerges, shining like the sun.

Ignorance binds living beings to illusion, desire, and suffering. Knowledge, however, illuminates the mind, removes the darkness of delusion, and leads to spiritual freedom and lasting peace.

Just as the sun dispels darkness, the light of knowledge removes all doubts and confusions, guiding the soul toward liberation.
