🌟 Why Renunciation Without Yoga Leads to Suffering | Bhagavad Gita Chapter 5 Shloka 6 Explained

📜 Sanskrit Shloka (Devanagari)

संन्यासस्तु महाबाहो दुःखमाप्तुमयोगतः ।
योगयुक्तो मुनिर्ब्रह्म नचिरेणाधिगच्छति ॥ ५.६ ॥

🔤 IAST Transliteration

saṁnyāsas tu mahā-bāho duḥkham āptum ayogataḥ
yoga-yukto munir brahma na cireṇādhigacchati ॥ 5.6 ॥

🇮🇳 Hindi Translation

हे महाबाहु! योग के बिना संन्यास दुःखदायी और कठिन है। परंतु जो योगयुक्त मुनि है, वह शीघ्र ही ब्रह्म को प्राप्त कर लेता है।

🌍 English Translation

O mighty-armed Arjuna, renunciation without yoga is difficult and full of misery. But the sage who is united with yoga quickly attains Brahman.

✨ Detailed English Explanation

Krishna emphasizes that renunciation without yoga is painful and ineffective. If one abandons worldly duties but has not mastered the mind or eliminated desires, such renunciation brings frustration rather than peace.

True renunciation must be supported by discipline, detachment, and yoga. Otherwise, one risks falling into hypocrisy or inner conflict.

On the other hand, a yogi who is disciplined, detached, and performs duties selflessly progresses quickly. Such a sage attains union with Brahman—the ultimate reality—in a short time.

This verse clarifies that renunciation is not about external withdrawal but about inner mastery. Without yoga, sannyasa is empty; with yoga, liberation comes swiftly.

🌱 Life Lessons / Moral Teachings

✦ Hindi में जीवन पाठ

  1. बिना योग और आत्मसंयम के संन्यास लेना केवल दुःखदायी होता है।

  2. वास्तविक संन्यास का अर्थ है अंतर का वैराग्य और मन का संयम।

  3. कर्मयोग से साधक का मन शुद्ध होता है और वह शीघ्र ही आत्मज्ञान प्राप्त करता है।

  4. जीवन में त्याग से अधिक आवश्यक है आसक्ति का त्याग।

✦ Life Lessons in English

  1. Renunciation without self-discipline leads only to misery.

  2. True sannyasa means inner detachment and mastery of the mind.

  3. Karma yoga purifies the heart and leads quickly to realization.
