🌸 The Secret of Pure Karma: Gita Chapter 5 Shloka 7 Explained 🌸

📖 Sanskrit Shloka

🔤 IAST Transliteration

yogayukto viśuddhātmā vijitātmā jitendriyaḥ ।
sarvabhūtātmabhūtātmā kurvann api na lipyate ॥ 5.7 ॥

🌿 Hindi Translation

🌍 English Translation

One who is devoted to yoga, pure in heart, self-disciplined, master of the senses, and sees the Self in all beings—such a person, even while performing actions, remains untouched by them.

🌼 Detailed English Explanation

In this verse, Lord Krishna describes the qualities of a true karma yogi. Such a person is firmly established in yoga, meaning they live in alignment with spiritual discipline and inner balance. Their heart is pure, free from selfish desires, and their mind is under control. They have conquered the senses, which no longer dictate their actions.

Most importantly, they see the same Self (Ātman) in all beings. Because of this universal vision, they act not out of ego or personal gain but out of harmony with the greater good.

Thus, although they perform actions in the material world, these actions do not bind them with karma. Their deeds become selfless offerings, free from attachment, and therefore liberating rather than binding.

🌟 Life Lessons / Moral Teachings

In English

  • Living with yoga brings purity of mind and soul.

  • Self-discipline and mastery over the senses free us from bondage.

  • Seeing all beings as part of the same Self transforms our actions into selfless service.

  • Liberation is not in renouncing work but in performing it with detachment and devotion.

🕉 Conclusion

Bhagavad Gita 5.7 teaches us that a true yogi is not one who abandons actions, but one who performs them with a pure heart, self-control, and universal vision. Such a person remains untouched by karma, even while living an active life.

In today’s world, this message is powerful: engage in your duties, but free yourself from selfishness and ego. Work for the greater good, see divinity in all, and your actions will lead you to liberation rather than bondage.
