🕉️ मन का संयम ही योग की कुंजी | भगवद् गीता अध्याय 6 श्लोक 36

संस्कृत श्लोक

असंयतात्मना योगो दुष्प्राप इति मे मतिः।
वश्यात्मना तु यतता शक्योऽवाप्तुमुपायतः ॥ 6.36 ॥

IAST Transliteration

asaṁyatātmanā yogo duṣprāpa iti me matiḥ,
vaśyātmanā tu yatatā śakyo’vāptum upāyataḥ ॥ 6.36 ॥

हिंदी अनुवाद

हे अर्जुन! मेरा मत है कि जिसका मन वश में नहीं है, उसके लिए योग प्राप्त करना अत्यंत कठिन है। परंतु जो अपने मन को वश में रखता है और प्रयास करता है, वह उचित उपाय से योग को प्राप्त कर सकता है।

English Translation

O Arjuna, it is my opinion that for one whose mind is unrestrained, yoga is very difficult to attain. But for one who has disciplined the mind and strives sincerely, yoga is attainable by the proper means.

✨ Detailed English Explanation

Lord Krishna explains a vital truth in this verse: yoga cannot be attained without self-control.

  • For the unrestrained mind, constantly swayed by desires and distractions, the path of yoga is nearly impossible. Such a person may attempt meditation, but the lack of discipline keeps pulling them back into worldly chaos.

  • For the disciplined mind, however, yoga becomes achievable. Through consistent effort, right methods, and determination, such a yogi moves steadily toward union with the Self and the Divine.

  • The phrase “upāyataḥ” emphasizes that the right means — practice, detachment, mindfulness, meditation, and devotion — are essential tools for mastering the mind.

Thus, Krishna reminds us that discipline is not a restriction but a doorway to higher freedom and spiritual realization.

🌿 Life Lessons / जीवन की शिक्षाएँ

In Hindi:

  • मन को वश में किए बिना योग की प्राप्ति संभव नहीं।

  • आत्मसंयम ही आध्यात्मिक सफलता का आधार है।

  • उचित उपायों जैसे ध्यान, साधना और सत्संग से मन को नियंत्रित किया जा सकता है।

  • योग केवल अभ्यास करने से नहीं, बल्कि संयम और धैर्य से ही पूर्ण होता है।

In English:

  • Without self-control, yoga is impossible.

  • Self-discipline is the foundation of spiritual growth.

  • Right means — meditation, detachment, and devotion — lead to mastery of the mind.

  • True yoga is achieved not by mere attempts, but by disciplined practice.

🏁 निष्कर्ष / Conclusion

इस श्लोक का सार यह है कि योग कोई साधारण साधना नहीं है। यह तभी संभव है जब हम अपने मन को संयमित कर लें। मन की वासनाओं और इच्छाओं को वश में करके, सही उपायों के साथ आगे बढ़ने वाला ही वास्तविक योगी कहलाता है।

Lord Krishna teaches us here that discipline transforms difficulty into possibility. With self-mastery and perseverance, yoga — the union with the Divine — is within reach.

🕉️ कैसे जीते मन? अभ्यास और वैराग्य का रहस्य | भगवद् गीता अध्याय 6 श्लोक 35

संस्कृत श्लोक

श्रीभगवानुवाच —
असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम्।
अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥ 6.35 ॥

IAST Transliteration

śrī-bhagavān uvāca —
asaṁśayaṁ mahā-bāho mano durnigrahaṁ calam,
abhyāsena tu kaunteya vairāgyeṇa ca gṛhyate ॥ 6.35 ॥

हिंदी अनुवाद

श्रीभगवान बोले —
हे महाबाहु! निःसंदेह मन चंचल और वश में करना कठिन है। किंतु हे कौन्तेय! यह अभ्यास और वैराग्य के द्वारा वश में किया जा सकता है।

English Translation

The Blessed Lord said —
O mighty-armed Arjuna, undoubtedly the mind is restless and difficult to control. Yet, O son of Kunti, it can be restrained through practice and detachment.

✨ Detailed English Explanation

In this verse, Lord Krishna accepts Arjuna’s concern: the mind is unruly, restless, and difficult to master. It is true that our thoughts constantly wander — from desire to fear, from pleasure to pain, from attachment to aversion.

However, Krishna reassures Arjuna that discipline is possible. He prescribes two key methods:

  1. Abhyāsa (Practice) — Continuous effort, meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and spiritual exercises gradually bring steadiness to the mind. Practice builds strength, just as physical exercise strengthens the body.

  2. Vairāgya (Detachment/Dispassion) — Reducing attachment to material possessions, pleasures, and outcomes. When the mind is not enslaved by desire, it naturally becomes calmer and easier to control.

Thus, Krishna emphasizes that while controlling the mind may be one of life’s greatest challenges, it is not beyond reach. With perseverance and detachment, even the wildest mind can be tamed and directed toward higher consciousness.

🌿 Life Lessons / जीवन की शिक्षाएँ

In Hindi:

  • मन को जीतने का सबसे बड़ा साधन है निरंतर अभ्यास।

  • वैराग्य का अर्थ है इच्छाओं को त्यागना नहीं, बल्कि उन पर नियंत्रण पाना।

  • साधना और आत्मअनुशासन से ही जीवन में स्थिरता और शांति आती है।

  • जो मन पर विजय प्राप्त करता है, वही सच्चा विजेता है।

In English:

  • The mind can be conquered only through practice and discipline.

  • Detachment doesn’t mean renouncing everything, but mastering desires.

  • Consistent meditation and self-control lead to inner peace.

  • The greatest victory is the victory over one’s own mind.

🏁 निष्कर्ष / Conclusion

भगवान श्रीकृष्ण इस श्लोक में हमें यह सिखाते हैं कि मन की चंचलता स्वाभाविक है, लेकिन इसका नियंत्रण असंभव नहीं है। अभ्यास और वैराग्य को जीवन का हिस्सा बनाने से हम मन को स्थिर कर सकते हैं और आत्मिक उन्नति प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।

Lord Krishna’s teaching here is timeless — with practice and detachment, we can master the mind, live in harmony, and walk the path of true yoga.

🌟 Why the Mind is Harder to Control than the Wind (Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, Shloka 34)

📜 Sanskrit Shloka

चञ्चलं हि मनः कृष्ण प्रमाथि बलवद्दृढम् ।
तस्याहं निग्रहं मन्ये वायोरिव सुदुष्करम् ॥ 6.34 ॥

🔤 IAST Transliteration

cañcalaṁ hi manaḥ kṛṣṇa pramāthi balavad dṛḍham |
tasyāhaṁ nigrahaṁ manye vāyor iva suduṣkaram || 6.34 ||

🇮🇳 Hindi Translation

हे कृष्ण! मन तो चंचल है, प्रमाथी (बलपूर्वक भटकाने वाला) है, बलवान और दृढ़ है। इसे वश में करना मुझे वायु को रोकने के समान अत्यंत कठिन प्रतीत होता है।

🌍 English Translation

O Krishna, the mind is restless, turbulent, powerful, and obstinate. To subdue it, I think, is as difficult as controlling the wind.

📖 Detailed English Explanation

In this verse, Arjuna describes the true nature of the mind. He tells Krishna that the mind is:

  • Restless (chanchalam): constantly moving from one thought to another.

  • Turbulent (pramathi): forcefully dragging one away from focus.

  • Strong (balavat): powerful enough to disturb even the strongest determination.

  • Obstinate (dṛḍham): stubborn in its habits and difficult to change.

Because of these qualities, Arjuna concludes that controlling the mind is as difficult as controlling the wind itself. Just as no one can catch or stop the air with bare hands, so too the mind slips away, resisting control.

This is a profound truth even for us today. Whether in meditation, prayer, or even daily tasks, the mind refuses to stay steady. It is always chasing desires, fears, or memories. Arjuna’s honest confession represents the struggle of every seeker.

However, by stating this difficulty, Arjuna sets the stage for Krishna’s assurance in the next verse—that with practice (abhyasa) and detachment (vairagya), even the unruly mind can be mastered.

🌱 जीवन के लिए शिक्षाएँ (Life Lessons in Hindi)

🌱 Life Lessons (in English)

  1. Restlessness of the mind is natural—accept it instead of denying it.

  2. Without discipline and practice, the mind will never remain steady.

  3. The stronger the mind, the greater the need to direct it properly.

  4. Patience and consistent effort are the keys to spiritual growth.

  5. Mastering thoughts is more important than mastering external situations.

🕉️ Conclusion

Bhagavad Gita Chapter 6, Shloka 34 captures Arjuna’s heartfelt struggle: the mind is restless, turbulent, and extremely hard to control—like the wind. His words reflect the universal challenge of every seeker.

Yet, this acknowledgment is not defeat—it is the beginning of true understanding. Once we accept the nature of the mind, we can work with it. In the following verses, Krishna will reveal that through practice and detachment, even the wildest mind can be brought to peace.

🙏 गीता 6.14 का रहस्य: शांत मन, ब्रह्मचर्य और ईश्वर में लीन योगी

संस्कृत श्लोक (Sanskrit Shloka)

प्रशान्तात्मा विगतभीर्ब्रह्मचारिव्रते स्थितः।
मनः संयम्य मच्चित्तो युक्त आसीत मत्परः ॥ 6.14 ॥

IAST Transliteration

praśāntātmā vigata-bhīr brahmacārī-vrate sthitaḥ
manaḥ saṁyamya mac-citto yukta āsīta mat-paraḥ ॥ 6.14 ॥

हिंदी अनुवाद (Hindi Translation)

शांतचित्त, निर्भय और ब्रह्मचर्य-व्रत में स्थित योगी, मन को संयमित करके, मुझमें चित्त लगाकर, पूर्णतया मेरी शरण में बैठकर योग साधना करे।

English Translation

With a peaceful mind, free from fear, steadfast in the vow of celibacy, controlling the mind, and meditating on Me with full devotion, the yogi should remain absorbed in Me.

विस्तृत हिन्दी व्याख्या (Detailed Hindi Explanation)

Detailed English Explanation

In this verse, Lord Krishna outlines the inner qualities of a true yogi and the mindset necessary for meditation.

  • Peaceful self (praśāntātmā): The yogi must cultivate inner calm, free from agitation caused by anger, greed, or desire.

  • Fearlessness (vigata-bhīḥ): Fear disrupts concentration and keeps the mind bound to the material world. True yoga requires courage and trust in the Divine.

  • Firm in celibacy (brahmacārī-vrate sthitaḥ): Brahmacharya means control over the senses, purity in thought, word, and action. It preserves energy for higher consciousness.

  • Controlling the mind (manaḥ saṁyamya): Discipline of the mind is essential to redirect it from worldly distractions toward the Divine.

  • Absorbed in God (mac-citto mat-paraḥ): The yogi must anchor the heart and mind in Krishna, recognizing Him as the ultimate goal.

This verse teaches that meditation is not just a practice but a state of being — fearless, pure, disciplined, and God-centered.

In Hindi:

  1. शांत और स्थिर मन ही साधना में सफलता लाता है।

  2. भय रहित होकर जीवन जीना ही सच्ची स्वतंत्रता है।
