Bhagavad Gita Chapter 8, Verse 16 (संस्कृत श्लोक)
IAST Transliteration:
ā-brahmabhūvanāl lokāḥ punar āvartino ’rjuna
mām upetya tu kaunteya punar janma na vidyate
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
English Translation
All worlds, from the earthly to the Brahmaloka, are subject to rebirth; but, O Arjuna, one who attains Me does not take birth again.
(Detailed Explanation in Hindi)
🌼 English Explanation (In-depth)
Krishna distinguishes between temporal heavenly worlds and the attainment of the Supreme:
-
“Ā-brahmabhūvanāl lokāḥ punar āvartino” — All worlds, including the highest heavenly realms, are subject to rebirth.
-
“Mām upetya” — One who attains Me, the Supreme Lord.
-
“Punar janma na vidyate” — Does not take birth again.
The verse emphasizes that spiritual liberation is not about reaching any particular loka or heavenly realm, but about union with God, which ends the cycle of birth and death forever.
